Year 2 visit Baltic and the Quayside
On Thursday 13th November, our Year 2 children enjoyed an inspiring visit to the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead. The Baltic is one of the North East’s most iconic galleries, housed in a former flour mill on the banks of the River Tyne. It is known for its exciting exhibitions, creative spaces and stunning views over the city.
During the visit, the children took part in a hands-on creative workshop all about the famous bridges of the Tyne. They explored different structures and designs before sketching, constructing and decorating their very own bridges. The workshop was a fantastic opportunity for the children to use their imagination, work collaboratively and learn more about the architecture that makes our local area so special.
Year 2 also had the chance to explore the gallery itself and visit the spectacular viewing platform, which offered panoramic views of Newcastle and Gateshead. The children were amazed to spot landmarks they recognised, and it was a wonderful way to deepen their understanding of our city and its history.
It was a brilliant day full of creativity, curiosity and new experiences. A huge well done to Year 2 for representing our school so brilliantly, and thank you to the Baltic staff for hosting such a memorable visit!
