Welcome to Lemington Riverside
Welcome to a primary school that embraces innovation and takes pride in being truly unique.
At Lemington Riverside Primary School, we are an inclusive and vibrant community at the heart of Lemington, overlooking the beautiful River Tyne. We cater for children aged 3 to 11 and are a one-form-entry school, with one class per year group, allowing us to build strong relationships and a close-knit school environment.
Our home is a striking Edwardian building, featuring bright, spacious classrooms, well-equipped libraries, ICT facilities, and inspiring outdoor spaces. In addition, our on-site community hub provides a wide range of activities, services, and support for pupils, families, and the wider community.
We believe primary education should offer far more than academic achievement alone. While our children leave us with strong outcomes, they also take with them rich experiences and lasting memories. Our unique “Lemington Riverside Experience” offers a diverse programme of cultural, creative, and sporting opportunities.
Our dedicated team of teachers and support staff bring enthusiasm, expertise, and innovation into every classroom. They engage in ongoing professional development and educational research to ensure our curriculum remains ambitious, engaging, and relevant.
We are also proud of our exceptional pastoral care. With access to an in-house counsellor, occupational therapist, and a broad network of specialist support, we ensure every child receives the guidance and care they need to flourish.
At Lemington Riverside, we describe ourselves as “bravely different and proudly unique” — unafraid to think creatively and committed to doing what is best for our children and community.
We warmly welcome prospective families to visit us. If you would like to arrange a tour, please get in touch using the contact details on our website — we would be delighted to meet you.

What’s Happening...
A huge well done to our Lemington Heroes for the first week of term who we celebrated in our assembly this afternoon!
Every adult that stood up in assembly today said that they could have nominated anybody in their class this week - that sums up what a fantastic start to the term it's been!

Dear parents, carers and members of the Lemington Riverside Community,
Following the recent announcement that Mr Heeley will be leaving Lemington Riverside Primary School at October half term to take up a new role supporting schools more widely across Newcastle, we wanted to share a few words on behalf of the Governing Body.
We are, of course, incredibly pleased for Craig as he takes this exciting next step in his career. At the same time, there is inevitably great sadness that his time as Headteacher of Lemington Riverside is drawing to a close.
Craig has been an exemplary Headteacher and it has been a privilege for us, as governors, to work alongside him and to share in the considerable growth and development of Lemington Riverside during his headship.
Under Craig’s leadership, Lemington Riverside has developed into the happy, confident, inclusive and successful school that we see today, with a strong and important place at the heart of the Lemington community. His commitment to the school and, above all, to its children has always been at the centre of his leadership.
One of Craig’s greatest strengths has been the remarkable relationship he has built with our children. He knows them as individuals, understands the community they come from and has always wanted the very best for every one of them. This is evident whenever you spend time in the school and is something that will undoubtedly be remembered by children and families for many years to come.
Craig also leaves behind a strong, professional and inclusive staff team at all levels of the school. This is an important part of his legacy and means that Lemington Riverside is in very good hands as we enter the next chapter in the school’s journey.
The Governing Body is working carefully to put appropriate interim leadership arrangements in place and to begin the process of appointing Craig’s successor. We recognise the importance of getting this appointment right and will keep parents and carers informed as this work progresses.
Craig will undoubtedly be a hard act to follow. We are enormously grateful for everything he has given to Lemington Riverside and its community, and we wish him every success and happiness as he takes on this new and exciting challenge.
There will be an opportunity before October half term for us to properly recognise and celebrate Craig’s contribution to the school. For now, we simply want to place on record our sincere thanks for his outstanding service and leadership of Lemington Riverside Primary School.

If your child is currently in Year 6 (Mr. Sayers' class) you can also now apply for their high school place. We always strongly encourage parents/carers to visit the high school open evenings that will be happening over the next few weeks so that you can get a flavour of what each high school can offer. Our focus at both Lemington Riverside and Healthworks Pre-School this half term will be settling our lovely new children into our settings.
Therefore, our free 'Stay and Play' sessions for 0-5 year olds and their grown ups will resume in the Main Hall at Lemington Riverside Primary School after the October half term holiday.
We look forward to meeting the youngest members of our Lemington community again very soon! 3 Likes
