Welcome to Lemington Riverside
Welcome to a primary school that embraces innovation and takes pride in being truly unique.
At Lemington Riverside Primary School, we are an inclusive and vibrant community at the heart of Lemington, overlooking the beautiful River Tyne. We cater for children aged 3 to 11 and are a one-form-entry school, with one class per year group, allowing us to build strong relationships and a close-knit school environment.
Our home is a striking Edwardian building, featuring bright, spacious classrooms, well-equipped libraries, ICT facilities, and inspiring outdoor spaces. In addition, our on-site community hub provides a wide range of activities, services, and support for pupils, families, and the wider community.
We believe primary education should offer far more than academic achievement alone. While our children leave us with strong outcomes, they also take with them rich experiences and lasting memories. Our unique “Lemington Riverside Experience” offers a diverse programme of cultural, creative, and sporting opportunities.
Our dedicated team of teachers and support staff bring enthusiasm, expertise, and innovation into every classroom. They engage in ongoing professional development and educational research to ensure our curriculum remains ambitious, engaging, and relevant.
We are also proud of our exceptional pastoral care. With access to an in-house counsellor, occupational therapist, and a broad network of specialist support, we ensure every child receives the guidance and care they need to flourish.
At Lemington Riverside, we describe ourselves as “bravely different and proudly unique” — unafraid to think creatively and committed to doing what is best for our children and community.
We warmly welcome prospective families to visit us. If you would like to arrange a tour, please get in touch using the contact details on our website — we would be delighted to meet you.

What’s Happening...
Due to a further increase in forecasted temperatures today, we have made the decision that our Years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 sports day will now take place in-school and not at the Lemington Football Centre.
This decision has been made in the interests of safety and wellbeing of all children as well as everybody's comfort.
By keeping the event at school, we will avoid the (up hill) walk to the Lemington Football Centre at a time of day when temperatures are going to peak.
By basing the event in school, this will also mean we can stagger the event over the day so that children are not sat in the sun for prolonged periods of time.
Due to the number of children involved and the staggered nature of the event, it will no longer be possible for parents/carers to join us for the Y1-6 sports day.
The Nursery, Reception and Bridge sports day in the early years garden this morning remains unaffected and goes ahead as scheduled. Parents, are welcome to join us for these events.
Thank you for your understanding - these are never easy decisions to make, but with the further increase in forecasted temperatures overnight the safety and wellbeing of our children must always come first. 10 Likes
You will notice in the coming days and weeks that we are investing in a new CCTV system across our school to ensure it is an even more secure place to learn.

We are excited for our Sports Day activities at Lemington Riverside tomorrow (Thursday 9 July).
In the morning, we have our Nursery, Reception and Bridge Sports Day activities that take place in the Early Years garden at school. Please see separate information that has been sent about this.
In the afternoon our Y1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 sports day takes place at the Lemington Football Centre (1:30-3pm).
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS/CARERS:
- Please ensure your child is wearing suitable clothing for sports day. Trainers please, no crocs or sandals. Please ensure children have applied sun cream before school, have a sun hat and bring a refillable water bottle.
- Parents/carers MUST remain in the area designated for adult spectators throughout the event. Please do not request to take children during the sports day - we need to ensure everybody is kept safe and staff have been instructed to do this.
- This event is a FUN celebration of sport - our staff have worked hard to arrange and organise the event - we always do our best to get the finish line decisions right, but please don't feel you need to be VAR for us (we've seen enough of that in the World Cup!!). As we always do as a school, we make sure all children are celebrated and have various medals and certificates that will be given out following the event.
- The majority of children will walk to the Lemington Football Centre for the event for it starting at 1:30pm. Some children will be transported with Mr. Carter/Mr. Murphy in the minibus.
- There will be refreshments on sale, please see below.
- At the end of sports day, parents/carers who wish to take their children directly from sports day can do so at the end of the event - again, please be patient and allow our staff to dismiss in a controlled, safe manner.
- You may take photos during the event, but you must not share any photos on social media if they contain children other than your own.
THANK YOU so much for your support and we look forward to an enjoyable sports day :)
