Lemington Riverside Primary School

Well done to our Year 5 debating team!

Our Year 5 pupils represented Lemington Riverside Primary School brilliantly today at the Newcastle Debating Competition, held in the impressive Debating Chamber at Newcastle Civic Centre.

The team was tasked with arguing in favour of the motion: "Will artificial intelligence (AI) do more harm than good?" After presenting their carefully prepared arguments with confidence, clarity and excellent teamwork, Lemington Riverside won their debate.

The competition brought together schools from across the city, with Wingrove Primary School going on to be crowned the overall winners. Congratulations to them on their success.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Murphy for all of his hard work in preparing the children for the event. Their thoughtful arguments, public speaking skills and professionalism made us incredibly proud.

Well done to all of the pupils who took part – you were outstanding ambassadors for our school!
