October 2026 Newsletter
Dear Parents and Carers,
Staffing arrangements for after October half term
I am pleased to be able to share the staffing arrangements for school following the October half term.
The Governing Body have appointed Mr Murphy as Acting Headteacher from October half term, initially until the Easter holidays in 2027. Ms Turner will become Acting Deputy Headteacher. Both Mr Murphy and Ms Turner know our children, our families and our school incredibly well, and I know they will provide continuity and stability for the school during this period.
Once the Governing Body have agreed the permanent leadership arrangements for the school, these will be communicated with parents and carers.
As Ms Turner will be spending more time out of class to support Mr Murphy with the leadership of the school, Miss Pollock will teach our Year 1 class alongside Ms Turner from after half term. Miss Pollock currently works in school as a teaching assistant but is also a fully qualified teacher and already knows our children and school very well.
Attendance: appointments during the school day
We would like to remind families that, wherever possible, routine dental and eye appointments should be arranged outside of school hours.
We have recently seen an increase in children missing school for these appointments. Many opticians offer late afternoon, evening and weekend appointments, so routine eye tests should normally be booked at a time that does not affect attendance at school.
We appreciate that dental appointments can sometimes be more difficult to arrange outside of the school day. Where an appointment during school hours is unavoidable, we ask that children attend school before and/or after their appointment wherever possible.
For a routine dental or eye appointment, children would not normally need to miss a whole morning, afternoon or full day of school. We therefore ask parents and carers to keep any time away from school to the minimum necessary, including when travel is required.
Every lesson matters, and even small amounts of missed learning can build up over time. Thank you for working with us to help children maintain strong attendance while still attending the important health appointments they need.
