Centre for Life AI Showcase Event - Saturday 31 January 2026

We’re delighted to share an exciting opportunity for families at Lemington Riverside to attend a special Artificial Intelligence (AI) Spotlight Day at the Centre for Life — completely free of charge.

Thanks to a new allocation of places, we have a number of free tickets available for parents/carers and children to enjoy this unique event on:

What is AI Spotlight Day?

AI Spotlight Day is a fun, hands-on event exploring Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it is shaping the world around us — designed to be engaging, accessible and suitable for families.

On the day, visitors will be able to take part in a range of interactive activities led by experts from local universities and research teams, alongside all the usual exhibitions and experiences available at the Centre for Life.

What’s happening on the day?

Families attending can look forward to:

  • Interactive activities with Northumbria University and Newcastle University

  • A live experience from the Newcastle Urban Observatory, featuring a camera that creates real-time stick-figure versions of visitors

  • An activity exploring how AI-generated images can sometimes reinforce stereotypes, helping children think critically about what they see online

  • Creative contributions from PhD students, using AI to respond to the Life Science Centre in exciting and unexpected ways

  • A science theatre show called Find the Fake, all about:

    • Critical thinking

    • Spotting misinformation

    • Understanding when information might not be accurate

All of this takes place alongside the Centre for Life’s usual hands-on science exhibits, making it a full and exciting day out for the whole family.
