Lemington Riverside Primary School

Art for Wellbeing

We are sharing an opportunity from Zone West for children aged 7–11 who are currently on the CYPS (Children and Young People's Service) waiting list.

Art for Wellbeing is a six-week creative wellbeing programme offering children a welcoming space to explore feelings, express themselves and develop coping strategies through art.

Children can try activities including painting, clay, drawing, collage and working with natural objects. They do not need to feel they are good at art to take part!

Sessions are led by an HCPC-registered Art Psychotherapist, with up to six children in each group. Although the group is not therapy, it aims to support children’s emotional wellbeing while they wait to access services.

  • When: Thursdays, 1.30pm–2.30pm, for six weeks.

  • Where: Charlton Street Hub (children attending from Lemington Riverside will be escorted to/from the sessions at the Hub by a member of school staff).

  • Who: Children aged 7–11 who are on the CYPS waiting list.

If you would like to find out more, please contact Kim Cole, our Attendance and Welfare Officer (you can email her kim.cole@lemingtonriverside.newcastle or give her a call/text message on 07494726407). With your permission, Kim can pass your contact details to Jess, who will discuss the programme and referral process with you.

Places are limited, and referrals are welcomed from different schools, so expressing an interest does not guarantee a place. Programme dates and arrangements for getting children to and from sessions can be discussed as part of your enquiry.
