All aboard the Ocean Youth Trust Voyage!

MONDAY EVENING UPDATE:

The children are now on board the sailing boat and are sailing down the River Tyne from North Shields towards the Newcastle-Gateshead Quayside! Pictured below are our fantastic sailors as they boarded!

A group of Year 6 pupils from Lemington Riverside Primary School are setting sail today on an exciting Ocean Youth Trust voyage along the River Tyne.

The children will join professional sailors and pupils from Broadwood Primary School for a unique sailing experience, travelling from Royal Quays in North Shields to the Newcastle-Gateshead Quayside.

During the voyage, pupils will work together as part of the crew, learning important sailing and navigation skills. They will have the opportunity to help steer the boat, learn how to navigate along the river and even prepare food together on board.

The experience promises to be a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to develop teamwork, confidence, resilience and independence whilst enjoying a memorable day on one of the North East's most famous waterways.

Before boarding, pupils were also treated to an impressive sight as the AIDA cruise ship prepared to leave port at Royal Quays.

We wish all of our Year 6 sailors a wonderful voyage and look forward to hearing all about their adventures when they return.
