France 2025
We are very excited to inform you that we have been successful in securing funding that will allow us to take children in our Year 6 class on a residential visit to the city of Nancy in France in June 2025. The funding has been secured through the Turing Scheme which encourages schools to connect with partner schools abroad.
The visit will take place over 4 nights with us departing on Monday 23 June 2025 and returning on Friday 27 June 2025. We will travel to and from Nancy by train from Newcastle to London, before taking the Eurostar train through the Channel Tunnel to Paris and then on to Nancy.
We have a partner school in Nancy and during our visit the children will get to spend time in a French primary school with their pen pals. They will also spend time visiting the sights of the city of Nancy where we will be staying, practicing their French skills & trying out some French food! We will also take some time to visit Paris on our journey to Nancy, visiting some of the famous sights such as the Eiffel Tower! This will be an amazing opportunity for our children to visit another European country!
There are a number of other Newcastle primary schools who have visited Nancy before as it is the twin town of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. We are working closely with these schools and they have given us lots of great tips such as where to stay, where to eat out and where to visit. At present, we are proposing to stay in a hotel called Hotel Stanley, which comes highly recommended by another Newcastle school. We will be able to confirm this once we have our final numbers of who would like to come along.
The adults who will join the children on this residential visit will be Mr. Heeley, Mr. Sayers, Mr. Jordan, Mrs. Wakenshaw and Mrs. O’Driscoll.
There will be no cost at all for this residential visit to our families with all travel, accommodation, activities and meals paid for. We also have funding to apply for passports for any children who do not currently have one.
We will be hosting an information session for families to find out more about our France residential at 3:40pm on Wednesday 27 November.
Please do come and speak with us in school if you have any questions about the visit at this stage.
We request that the initial consent form is returned to us no later than Friday 29 November 2024 to allow us to make the next stages of arrangements for the residential (a letter with this form will be sent to all Year 6 parents/carers).
